Bowstring Theory:

What Bowstring Materials?

At Bowman’s Bowstrings, our most popular material types for strings are BCY X99, Vec 99, BCY Mercury, BCY 8125, and Bloodline B99:

BCY X99

  • 80% SK99 Highest Quality Dyneema® – 20% Vectran.
  • All the benefits and performance of BCY-X.
  • When compared to BCY-X, the smaller diameter of X-99 means more strands are needed for a finished Bowstring (+2/4).

 VEC 99

  • A blend of Dyneema® SK99 and Vectran fiber.
  • Our Patent Pending Next Gen Coating Technology allows for a higher percentage of Vectran to be used in a blended Fiber.
  • Tests have found excellent string balance and constructional stability.

 BCY Mercury

  • Made 100% from the #1 quality Dyneema® fiber – SK99
  • Low Creep
  • Smaller diameter for a smoother, rounder string
  • Higher strength, high durability

BCY 8125

  • 100% SK75 Dyneema® fiber.
  • Highest speed and higher durability; preferred by some compound shooters – particularly 3D.
  • Also the choice of Olympic style recurve shooters worldwide.

Bloodline B99

  • Made with a very small diameter of Dyneema® SK99 fiber.
  • Combined with our Patent Pending Next GenCoating Technology, Bloodline B99 helps create a very tough and lightweight bowstring.
